Some assorted tidbits...
This year's lineup of performers at the Lowell Folk Festival in Massachusetts has just started to emerge, and it looks like a good one-already inked in are Louisiana's "Zydeco Sweetheart" Rosie Ledet, outstanding Texas steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (formerly with Asleep at the Wheel), her fellow Texan guitar legend Redd Volkaert, and the legendary Jamaican ska band The Skatilites. Many more acts to be added.

One of my RSS feeds at the bottom of the site links to upcoming shows on Australia's Radio National, which is available online but also on shortwave wireless here in the States mornings on 9.580 MHz, where they have been for decades.
One of their music show hosts is one of Cindy Cashdollar's predecessors with Asleep at the Wheel, steel guitarist Lucky Oceans, who married an Aussie and moved down under many years ago.
Lucky has a couple of tasty! shows coming up shortly:
Cyril Pahinui (The Daily Planet: Monday 17 March 2008)

On He’eia, Slack-Key guitarist Cyril Pahinui channels the musical spirits of his Dad, Gabby Pahinui, Atta Isaacs and Sonny Chillingworth for an excellent CD of mostly traditional Hawaiian instrumentals and songs.
The Blind Boys of Alabama (The Daily Planet: Tuesday 18 March 2008)
URL: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/dailyplanet/stories/2008/2187887.htm
On their new CD, Down in New Orleans, The Blind Boys of Alabama take a new direction by recording in New Orleans with Allen Toussaint, Dixieland group The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the horn-heavy Hot 8 Brass band.
If you click on the links you can find how to listen over the web.
And finally, Collectors' Choice music, which I mentioned in a very early post on this blog when it was still a pup, is running a sale on Laugh.com comedy CDs, including some Firesign Theatre stuff and also new releases by two guys born on Governors Island, the Smothers Brothers!
