Finnish Music Fest Part 1

Thanks to Dave "Doc" Gordon at Windswept Acres Farm in Vermont, here's Finland's Leningrad Cowboys, joined by the Red Army Choir. This is from the 1992 “Total Balalaika Show”. They join the Red Army Choir to do “Knocking on Heaven's Door,” “Dark Eyes.” “Meadowlands,” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” in the same evening.

The Leningrad Cowboys are a Finnish band who perform parody covers of classic rock. They are perhaps the only band whose hair matches their shoes (don't ask). Their humor is so deadpan and ironic it's hardly there at all, which makes it even funnier. Someone had the truly strange idea of a concert with the Cowboys and a Soviet Army orchestra, chorus and dance group.

You haven't lived until you've seen a Russian basso profundo, in full Soviet Army uniform, singing “Happy Together” with a bunch of Finnish parody rockers in outlandish wigs.

Enjoy!
