Return of Uncle Chickie!

(CBS) Jazz fusion fans rejoice: Chick Corea is putting the band back together. After 30 years apart, the legendary Return To Forever will reunite for a summer tour of North America and Europe.

Corea, the band's founder and keyboardist, will be joined by the classic line-up of guitarist Al Di Meola, drummer Lenny White, and bassist Stanley Clarke for the tour, which kicks off on May 29 in Dallas and wraps in New York on Aug. 7.

"What made me want to do it," Corea told the Los Angeles Times, "was just recalling how great the feeling was playing with these guys. Just the experience of playing, when I thought 'Wow, yeah, that was an amazing period - fun, creative, exciting.'"

Return To Forever was a major force in the jazz fusion movement of the 1970s with their electrifying blend of jazz and rock. What made the band especially notable was the virtuosity of each musician on their respective instruments, from Di Meola's blazing guitar riffs to Clarke's innovative bass technique.
