DC-5 fan Tom Hanks just inducted the Dave Clark 5 into the R & R Hall of Fame. His speech was a riot, and I have quoted part of what he said in this post title. Hint: he was describing driving along in the family car with the family, and hearing a DC 5 song come on just before they lost the AM signal in a tunnel.
Dave Clark later said: "I was no Buddy Rich, but I didn't do badly."
Sad to say, "The History of the Dave Clark 5" CD has long been out of print. It was only sold in limited quantities when it came out in 1993. As Hanks said in his hilarious speech (which I will have to post a transcript of ASAP) Dave Clark controls all the material, and has only released it for sale once.
Whether that is good or bad is open to discussion...I don't give a hoot as I bought one of the original "History of the Dave Clark 5" copies in '93. GREAT liner notes!
To do DC-5 music after the induction, Joan Jett did "Bits and Pieces", a brilliant idea-after all, she looks and sounds like Chrissie Hynde, but Chrissie is too heavily identified with another British Invasion band.
They added Lil' Bastard and Fogerty to the gumbo for "Glad All Over" . Great tribute!
