R.I.P. Bud Shank

Bud was a legendary alto sax player who started with Charlie Barnett in the late 1940s. He then spent time with Stan Kenton's band, before discovering Brazilian music. He would later also record an album with Ravi Shankar.

Bud also did pop stuff; he recorded an entire album dedicated to The Lovin' Spoonful called "A Spoonful of Jazz", and he's the guy doing the flute solo on "California Dreaming" by The Mamas and The Papas.
