"In response to complaints about a helicopter that flew over the Gentilly Stage during Robert Cray's set last Sunday, Jazz Fest producer-director Quint Davis issued the following statement:
"During Jazz Fest last Sunday, the helicopter that flew over the Fair Grounds was being used by an official Festival photographer to capture aerial shots of the event for future production purposes. Unfortunately, due to the low cloud ceiling that existed at the time the photographs were scheduled, the flyover was closer to the ground than usual.
"The Festival photographer was not aware that the flyover was as loud as it turned out to be, and communication with him during the flyover is difficult at best. Sincerest apologies to all who found the situation distracting. Such a low flyover for photography purposes will not happen again."
