Music on GI

Yet another series of concerts on Governors Island in New York Harbor this summer will be "Folks on the Island", a series of folk music shows in July and early August. These are held behind "Colonel's Row".

The series kicks off Saturday the 5th, with well-known folkie Janis Ian. Strangely enough, the first time I ever heard her on the radio was when we lived on...Governors Island. "Society's Child" was in the top 20 on WABC. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001.
