What Would Al Hirt Say?

New Orleans Java factory will be purchased by jam-maker Smuckers:

"The huge Folgers coffee plant in New Orleans, damaged by flooding during Hurricane Katrina but now back at full operation with about 440 employees, is getting a new owner.

Jams and jellies maker J.M. Smucker Co. agreed Wednesday to a $2.95 billion deal with Procter & Gamble Co. to take over the Folgers brand. In addition to the New Orleans plant, Folgers also has roasting facilities in Kansas City, Mo. and Sherman, Texas.

Folgers is a major customer of the Port of New Orleans. Roasters, including Folgers, import an average 250,000 to 300,000 tons of coffee beans annually through the port."
