Springtime on Baldy

Here's a usually unseen angle looking at "Old Baldy", AKA Mt. Cardigan, which sits in central New Hampshire just to the west of Newfound Lake. For you geologists, Cardy is a classic "monadnock" mountain.

This is a shot I took a few days ago from the other side in Grafton, which is to the southwest. I took this just off of Riddle Hill Road, which leads up to the world famous Ruggles Mine. Nice scud clouds!

This is the side of the mountain that the "easy" trail ascends. It's just over 1 mile long and takes about an hour, and is the first big climb for most kids around here. We first did it in 1960, and I last did Cardy 4 years ago (but from the other side).
