Mama Africa

Back in March of 1992, some of us were privileged to witness a wonderful concert in Portland Maine by African superstars Miriam Makeba and her ex husband, trumpeter Hugh Masekela. It was her 60th birthday that night, and she was outstanding. She even had one of her nieces as a backing singer. Oh, and Hugh was great, too.

Miriam started her "farewell tour" 3 years ago! Here's a nice new interview:

This performance of "Pata" was taped in 1979 in Holland, and features Miriam's late daughter on backing vocals-along with HER daughter.
